St Lawrence C Of E Primary School Hurst

End of school year news from St Lawrence Primary - Hurst, 2022

By Marianne Brand, headteacher

It has been a very busy few weeks at St Lawrence! The children have demonstrated amazing resilience and collaboration during our sports mornings and swimming gala. It has been great to be able to invite parents, carers and other visitors back to share the sports mornings with us and cheer on the children. The children all put in so much effort to earn each and every point for their houses, but Danny House were the winners of Sports Day and Wickham won the swimming gala.

We have also had a number of exciting and memorable visits in recent weeks. Year 5 enjoyed a visit to the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth and Year 2 spent a day by the seaside, on an open-top bus ride in Brighton, as well as visiting the Sealife Centre and taking a trip on the Volks Railway. We have also been looking forward to this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and were lucky enough to have a video message from Fabienne Andre, who is a para-athlete competing in the Commonwealth Games. She was incredibly inspirational and we hope that she might come and visit St Lawrence sometime in the Autumn Term.

Our Year 6 children have had a memorable end to their primary school journey, with many different events to enjoy, such as their Leavers’ Party and a fabulous production of Oliver! We wish them all the very best as they move on to their next chapter. We are very proud of each and every one of them. We also say goodbye to a number of staff members leaving at the end of this year, including Mrs Hampson and Mrs Thorp (previously Miss Dickason) who have spent 25 and 20 years respectively at St Lawrence. We thank them for their dedication and commitment and wish them all the best for the future. Have a good summer!
