Traffic-free Paths and Public Rights of Way
Many of us enjoy exploring our local countryside and we are particularly lucky in our parish to have an exceptionally good network of local footpaths and bridleways. These provide access for all to nature in some beautiful locations, often with stunning views. Footpaths (usually waymarked with yellow arrows) are for walking and running and where accessible, for mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs. Bridleways (usually waymarked with blue arrows) are for walking, horse riding, pedal cycling, mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs.
Local Government Review
The decision on the structure of the new unitary authorities in East and West Sussex has been delayed by the Government to allow for consultation on a further proposal. In April 2028 the existing two-tier system that includes the district councils and county councils will be replaced with a single tier structure, although town and parish councils will not be directly affected. By creating larger structures, it is expected to realise financial efficiencies and simplify service delivery. There may also be disadvantages though, as transitioning is costly, complex and could disrupt existing services. Conversely, there may be challenges and opportunities for Parish and Town Councils through a reordering of responsibilities and outputs.
